After refusing to voluntarily sign a confession, RODOLPHUS LESTRANGE was forced to produce one under Veritaserum. He was given a life-sentence for his crimes.

After a few weeks of imprisonment, he decided that "life" was just too long. Following a series of careful re-negotiations, his sentence was reduced to 25 years + exile. This sentence reduction was given in exchange for providing the locations of Harry's, Neville's, and Voldemort's remains, in addition to a voluntary confession.

The early years of his imprisonment were spent reading; without much in the way of magical books available, he turned to muggle literature and discovered a great passion for the Russian novelists.

Hydra kept him updated on the lives of Rigel and Charlotte, which he appreciated and always looked forward to.

In time he picked up writing, returning to his massive volume of ancestral research called The End of the Sacred. When he realised how much it bothered Hydra, he scrapped the project and began penning a series of torrid romance novels. Upon publication they enjoyed much success with young, misunderstood witches.

After their release, Lana and Rod immediately reunited and rekindled their flame, much to everyone's surprise. They settled down near Barcelona. A handful of years later, Rod developed cancer, to which he succumbed quietly and quickly.

Hydra, Rigel, and Charlotte paid him a visit before he died.

Confession of R. Lestrange (per Wizengamot Order HJ35830)

I, Rodolphus Lestrange, confess that I did commit numerous crimes against the people and the peace of Albion in the service of Tom Riddle, who called himself the Lord Protector.

As a purveyor and craftsman of dark artefacts, I did knowingly supply the Lord Protector and his MLE with uncountable deadly devices, and did not care how they were put to use. I also used these devices to knowingly disturb, disease, or kill my rivals. I studied and practised the darkest of arts and knowingly subjected my children to dangerous and experimental dark magic. I spilled much blood in the name of my quest for mastery.

As a council wizard, I took part in terrorising all who stood in our way, sometimes on the Lord Protector's orders, and other times not. Such acts of terror did include torture, dismemberment, and murder. I endorsed the practise of chattel slavery. I was one of many who helped to overthrow the original and lawfully recognised Ministry in order to establish the Protectorate realm.

As a husband, I did knowingly and willfully commit adultery on numerous occasions. I seduced my protégé, Lana Sandoval, and helped her to hide her lack of innocence from N. Pennifold on their wedding night. I did knowingly murder N. Pennifold at the Hogwarts Battle. I convinced Lana Sandoval to bear my child, and to participate in dark magic experiments intended to produce more fit progeny. This child, a daughter, was born on 29 August 1998. I fully resign custody of my daughter, and Rigel, my son born by Bellatrix Lestrange, to the state of Albion.

I make this confession under Veritaserum and submit myself to the power and punishment of Albion, justly administered for my crimes.

That won't be necessary. Please feel free to erect a monument or marker that bears the name of your choosing in any location that you desire, but her physical remains will be interred at L'Estrange Hill in New Forest. Next to her father's.

Can't imagine the headache of trying to pull that off in such a short span of time. It's fortunate that your young bride seems to enjoy such things- thrives on them, even. She's already owled me to ask if I will ceremonially pass her off to Phillip Greengrass just before he escorts her down the aisle - a touching gesture which I at once agreed to.

Which reminds me: I do so look forward to referring to you as nephew in a way that is bound to irritate.

Truth, though, I look forward to the merging of our families once again, and wish you all happiness.

Before that, care to celebrate your last weeks of bachelorhood? Snowdonia, Pseudonymity, the choice is yours. If it's the latter, though, I may be tempted to call in a favour.

Apologies for not writing sooner. Wasn't able to pick up a quill til today. Hopefully I'm not too late on the matter.

Bella has discovered that the would-be Gringott's robbers were polyjuiced as herself and Hydra. You know how carefully she minds such things, so those closest to her are at the top of her list of suspects. Was interrogated near beyond anything I've experienced before on Monday night. Not even sure she left off satisfied that I wasn't the culprit. I believe there are other things working her temper, including disappointments both in the field and off.

If she hasn't seen you yet, she will. Lay low. Though I am no doubt a far more deserving target, I fear that not even little sister can placate her this time 'round.

Good day, friend.

For my birthday I received enough bottles of Firewhiskey to wonder what my reputation has wrought. Only one bottle, however, was made in the manner of 12th century Ireland (greater proportion of malt to grain, matured in sherry casks, etc.). Only two distilleries in England produce this particular Firewhiskey - one located in the West Midlands, the other in Merseyside. Off the beaten path, to be certain. It was a gift from Daphne Greengrass, which has me wondering if it was you who tipped her off to my particular tastes, or if she managed to suss them out on her own.

Appreciated, if it was your doing.

Had a chance to fire call one Healer Hayden earlier this week. She was quite mum on the whole issue of Hydra's health and "accident," citing that you wouldn't approve of her sharing the details with me. And then that whole business of healer/patient confidentiality. Unflexible, yes. Nervous, too.

I realise you are likely reluctant to be forthcoming, what with the Missus minding over things, but assure me, if you will: was it truly just a training accident? If Bella has encouraged you to take a harder approach with the girl, know that Bella herself is not as responsible for Hydra's skills and gifts as she might think.

You have an interesting methodology for "preparing" your extended family, as you put it. Had I not been indisposed with other projects yesterday I would have surely heard sooner of your bold and enterprising public relations manoeuvre. Since you appear to have gone to the trouble of sparing me the role of the villain in your piece, I almost feel I should thank you for your efforts - this despite the fact that they were executed without my input or foreknowledge.

From here on out I am certain that you will be showered with attention from both admirers and the idly curious - and a few detractors as well, no doubt. In moving forward, please permit this bit of advice: your words and actions now reflect on the Lestrange name, even if you do decide to keep the "Greengrass." I see no reason not to trust you to bear this privilege in mind with the honour and respect it deserves.

Good to see you at the lecture, friend. Hope you didn't find the delivery pedestrian, since it was crafted with an audience of students in mind. Saw your interest provoked by the shadow caster, in particular. Any time you'd like a closer look, say the word. Provided, of course, you don't get too close.

Thank you, too, for keeping my daughter company. What do you know of the other two, Patil and Finnigan? Don't believe Hydra counts them among her friends, even if there is the Rosier family connection, with the Finnigan boy.

Did prod her to introduce me to the Head Girl, who she has some level of companionship with. She's Victoriana Greengrass' eldest. Seems quite poised and polished, worthy of the position.

Which brings me to a curiosity. The June before last, Raz went to Fletcher to request a paternity evaluation. For whatever reason, be it Raz's insistence or Fletcher's own foresightedness, Fletcher mocked up the (negative) results and discarded the samples. My investigations these last weeks have led me to conclude that it was the Greengrass girl who Raz suspected of being his progeny. The one he "ruled out," as you said. Given my recent conversations with Fletcher, it seems she can't be ruled out, after all.

Now that we have been thoroughly persuaded to put pursuit of bigger game on hiatus, I wondered if you would be willing to assist me with a small side project I've been tending to the last month or two.

I find myself dissatisfied with the number of branches on the Lestrange Tapestry. You both know that the Missus and I wanted more children than the two we have, but fate made mockery of our efforts. No more can be done for that, but the longer I look at the truncation beneath Raz's name, the more I wonder how it was that he never once impregnated a single witch. His appetite for female company was legendary, and yet he left no heirs behind. Unless there is one or more that we don't know of. I aim to discover just that.

While I cannot say I relish sorting through my dead brother's various liaisons, it's a necessary task. I have already accounted for the notable relationships, but the many flings, one-nighters, and prostitutes must be accounted for, as well. Raz wasn't the sort to shag and tell if he could help it, but women do talk, and gossip will out.

May I send both a copy of the list I am compiling? If you know of any other names that should be added, please make adjustments as needed. Barty, I know that you and he visited Pseudonymity several times. And then there are those mysterious years in the 80s when he was frequenting Borough Market on the regular. Though I prefer he not have sprogged up some wayward Halfblood, I intend this investigation to be thorough, no matter the outcome.

As much as I would like to inquire after her myself, Bella's definition of "interference" has become so tight that I'm keeping my quill to myself, for now.

To give you an idea of what I mean: I'm ensconced in my workshop at Le'Strange and am to be nowhere near St. James during the school hols. Not until I've proven my absolute trust in Bella's authority over our daughter.

And while it would be rather diverting to test the limits Bella's rules, I've only just recovered from the last time.
