- Gentlemen,

Now that we have been thoroughly persuaded to put pursuit of bigger game on hiatus, I wondered if you would be willing to assist me with a small side project I've been tending to the last month or two.

I find myself dissatisfied with the number of branches on the Lestrange Tapestry. You both know that the Missus and I wanted more children than the two we have, but fate made mockery of our efforts. No more can be done for that, but the longer I look at the truncation beneath Raz's name, the more I wonder how it was that he never once impregnated a single witch. His appetite for female company was legendary, and yet he left no heirs behind. Unless there is one or more that we don't know of. I aim to discover just that.

While I cannot say I relish sorting through my dead brother's various liaisons, it's a necessary task. I have already accounted for the notable relationships, but the many flings, one-nighters, and prostitutes must be accounted for, as well. Raz wasn't the sort to shag and tell if he could help it, but women do talk, and gossip will out.

May I send both a copy of the list I am compiling? If you know of any other names that should be added, please make adjustments as needed. Barty, I know that you and he visited Pseudonymity several times. And then there are those mysterious years in the 80s when he was frequenting Borough Market on the regular. Though I prefer he not have sprogged up some wayward Halfblood, I intend this investigation to be thorough, no matter the outcome.

There is a wound that continues to leak blood. Raz, now Lucius. Cad will sense weakness and attempt a killing stroke, if he's given the chance.

Who can we count among us? I have the Sandoval-Pennifolds, and Ptolmey will follow them. Will make overtures to Crispin and Ari, too.

I don't think Stephen will stand against us, but he may prefer to stand alone. Unless Bella's mother can convince him otherwise.

- Lana, how are you? It has been a memorable week.

The delight of having Barty back, after committing ourselves to the full devastation of his death, is rather a shock to the system. One can hardly tell head from feet in such turmoil.

I hope that you are sufficiently recovered, and not suffering any lingering distress. Or doubt.

Barty - The most peculiar tales have reached my ear of late. Wondering if you, in all your investigatory glory, can verify. (Would ask the Missus, would she be bothered to answer.) Word has it that those spas who are helping women watch their waistlines are also skimming off with various bodily fluids and effluvium, then turning them over to the back door for a pretty profit. Can't imagine the goods are going to the brothels, but such things do have other uses...

As you know, my growing collection brings me to more than a few back doors. Met more than my fair share of scrap dealers, too, but in recent years they've become less common, not more so. There's not some kind of new movement afoot, is there?

Please tell me that these messages between you, Barty, Truncheon, Hopkirk, etc, are all a sign that the net is closing.

And please do watch yourself. It could just as easily be a threat to you as it is to Hydra.

Gentlemen,

Still in the process of finalising the official report, making sure nothing new emerges, but wanted to give you the details at once. Know you've been waiting.

Without preamble, then: Several multi-directional anti-transport hexes layered together over two runes, raiðo and tiwaz, all sealed with a blood ritual. My assistant and I theorise that one of the makers severed his or her hand in order to transform it into a dismemberment device specific to Narcissa.

Finally, it was capped off by an Ogham character, nGéadal. Its old Irish meaning is "killing," or, less elegantly: "slays."

As a professional, I find it excessive; it does, however, make clear the degree of intent.

Forgive me for leaving it to you, Lucius, to think of how to best present this news to your wife. Meanwhile - and I'm sure Barty will agree with me - I suggest an immediate security upgrade.
