As I have received a number of Private Messages on the matter, I feel it best to make a brief public announcement about the state of my brother and daughter.

Rabastan is convalescing in Hogwarts hospital wing; we see no reason to transfer him to St. Mungos at this time, as to do so will undoubtedly cause him pain and may worsen his condition. With proper care he should make a full recovery with no long-term curse damage, though it will take a some time for the paralysis to retreat and for his vision to return.

My daughter has been treated for minor injuries, but is otherwise fine. She has already been questioned by MLE about her role in the incident.

All of this over a fucking kitten, of all things. Carrow somehow ended up with one that Hannah Abbott believed to be hers, and the girl became convinced he was going to bring it to a dark and bloody end

I gather she did try to tell the girl it was a plot doomed to failure, but as the girl couldn't be talked out of it, Hydra felt it might at least better her chances if she had company.

It's not the first impulse he's had to throw himself in the line of fire; I didn't hear much complaint when it happened last time.

The two events are not comparable.

Had Hydra suffered the curse, then perhaps she would have learned a valuable lesson. Instead, what she has learned is that she has a flock of silly men who surround her, all waiting to fall on the wand in her stead.

I, for one, am relieved that she was spared such a lesson. The curse was nasty enough to lay out Raz, and I imagine would have done worse to someone Hydra's age.

Mr Lestrange, I just wanted to let you know that everyone in our House is glad to hear that Hydra is doing all right, and we're all worried about Professor Lestrange, because, well, he's a really ace Professor, and we all like him very much. But it's good to know that he is recovering.

I'm so sorry you had to get such bad news about your brother and your daughter on the same day, but I'm very glad they will both be okay.

I'm glad I have been of some use to you, Rodolphus, though perhaps it shall turn out to be the Sisters in Witchcraft who benefit most by my coming up to the school.

That Carrow could have found anything in Hydra to offend him is clear proof he has no business teaching children. And to attack Raz? No, I am convinced he has lost what little grip he ever had on his wits.

Have you had any success getting Bella to join you?

Gratitude, Narcissa. I know you've had much to deal with yourself as of late.

Whatever Carrow's fate, he's earned nothing but my ill will from here on out. Seeing that the curse caused paralysis...well, I had to remind myself that times are different now and he'll have full access to the best treatment. Bad enough that he's still coping with what that Longbottom bitch did.

I've not tried to get her to join me. I'm sure she will make an appearance when it best suits her.

I'm sorry to hear that the situation there is so serious, particularly for Professor Lestrange. My sympathies are with all of you.

Sir, I've thought my best contribution would be to keep working. I haven't attempted any of the things we set aside, of course, but I've been busy about researching the pieces Craddock sent over and have found a deal of promising information. I'll be ready to report whenever you're able to return. -- But please don't feel I'm pressing you to leave there whilst you're needed.
